The National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme was born on 1969-70 making the centenary year celebration of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi. The Scheme was introduced in 1969 on a pilot basis in 37 Universities and three other institutions of higher education with an involvement of about 40,000 students. NSS Philosophy is based on the famous quote of Mahatma Gandhi “By education I mean bringing out the best in man and child- Mind, Body and Spirit”.
The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students to develop appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration to other living beings.
